CHARLIE'S CAFE
is back to the Minneapolis music scene! After 7 years the band is
together again to bring their brand of fun original music to everyone in
the Midwest!
The group weaves together a style of music that is comprised of pop,
rock, alternative, blues and funk influences. The members are all
experienced players from around the Midwest, with music that has been
heard on such programs as Dawson's Creek, UPN's Faces of Fall, and
several Lifetime television programs.
Currently they are in the studio recording their new album which is
slated for its full release on July 31st, 2005 through Cashin
Records. Sponsored by American Guitar Boutique in St. Paul, owner Cory
Lake is producing a quality record for this once popular Minneapolis
band.
Back in 1996, Charlie’s Café exploded on the Midwestern scene with their
self-titled CD release on the OarFin Records label selling over 2000
copies. They were nominated for a 1996 Minnesota Music Award for best
pop album and received rave reviews from local papers while becoming a
fast growing favorite on college radio. They made several live
appearances on the local news, had their music on several national
television programs, were a headlining act at all the top bars in the
Midwest and played a weekly gig at The Cabooze in Minneapolis for a
year.
Shortly thereafter Tony and their newly acquired drummer Joel Dodsen decided it
was time to move on. Corey and Chad called up good ole Pat
Armitage and decided to keep the band going. They picked up Adam
Teeter on Guitar and Kurt Durrwachter on Keys and made
a 3 song EP titled "Fresh Shuck Oysters". With the new band
members they began playing shows again and started working on a
full-length LP titled "Reset". The group finished recording
"Reset" but it never had a chance to be released as the band broke up
fully in 1999.
Now finally after 8 years from the time their first CD came out Corey, Chad and Tony
decided it was time to dust off the old name and bring Charlie’s Café
back to life.
